Chairman of the iVCi Strategic Network

To underpin the role of iVCi in developing the venture capital industry in Turkey in a balanced way, a specific iVCi Strategic Network has been created. The Chairman of the iVCi Strategic Network is Akin Ongor.

A former star Turkish national team basketball player, Mr. Ongor studied at Middle East Technical University in Ankara and later worked in England before returning to Istanbul in 1970. He worked at Pamuk Bank for four years before joining Garanti Bank in 1986, where he spent the following 17 years, nine of them as CEO. Mr. Ongor’s unprecedented leadership-driven management style led to the transformation of Garanti Bank from a small faltering enterprise to a leading player in the banking sector that it is today. Currently, he is Chairman of the World Wide Fund for Nature- Turkey (WWF- Turkey) and leads various philanthropic projects.

Mr. Ongor is a role model and an ambassador to iVCi.
